A newly launched initiative, called CaribIX, is bringing together Internet development expertise from around the world to help improve the quality of Internet service of Guadeloupe, St Barthélemy and Saint Martin.  

Secretary-General Rodney Taylor presented at the 33rd Inter-Sessional Meeting of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Belize, on 02 March 2022, on the Declaration of St George’s on the Reduction of Roaming Charges.

Today, 23rd February 2022, brought the Caribbean one step closer to reducing roaming charges. CARICOM Heads of Government will be lauded in the annals of history for their leadership in spearheading the Signing of the Declaration of St George’s, Towards the Reduction of Intra CARICOM Roaming Charges, with regional network operators, Digicel Group and Cable & Wireless Communications.

Caribbean citizens have an exciting, new world to participate in – a new and emerging digital space, The Metaverse, offering wealth generating opportunities. This was among the main message shared at a webinar held on Monday 31st January 2022 and hosted by the Government of Barbados and the Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU), of which Barbados is one of 20 Member States.

The Covid-19 pandemic has transformed the delivery of education, forcing educational institutions to utilise online learning platforms. While this in itself has its benefits, the commensurate challenges of online learning have had an impact on mental health.
