Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago – 7 July 2026 – The Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU), the Dynamic Coalition of Small Island Developing States in the Internet Economy (DC-SIDS) and the Halley Movement Coalition, are pleased to announce the 3rd Small Island Developing States Internet Governance Forum (SIDS IGF) to be held on 31st July and 1st August 2026.
Hosted in Mauritius alongside the 10th Mauritius IGF, the Forum will bring together stakeholders from the Caribbean, the Pacific and the Africa, Indian Ocean, Mediterranean and South China Sea (AIMS) regions to strengthen collaboration on Internet governance, digital policy and the digital economy. The event also marks the first SIDS Internet Governance Forum to be hosted in the Indian Ocean region.
Established following a joint CTU and DC_SIDS initiative, the SIDS IGF was created to provide Small Island Developing States with a dedicated platform to exchange experiences, develop common positions and contribute more effectively to local and global Internet governance processes. Since its inaugural meeting in 2022, the Forum has been convened biennially, fostering cooperation across the three SIDS regions.
Building on the progress of previous forums, the 3rd SIDS IGF will assess achievements, identify emerging priorities and strengthen cooperation on the issues most critical to island states. Discussions will focus on cyber resilience, digital inclusion, Internet governance, the digital economy, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, advanced data analytics, climate change and digital sustainability.
The Forum will be delivered in a hybrid format, enabling participation both in person and online through Zoom and social media livestreams. The programme will feature presentations, panel discussions and multistakeholder dialogues designed to encourage broad participation.
The SIDS IGF is open to policymakers, regulators, governments, the technical community, academia, civil society, the private sector, youth, development partners and all stakeholders committed to advancing the digital development of Small Island Developing States.
The Forum is expected to produce policy recommendations, stakeholder action points and strengthened partnerships that will support more resilient, inclusive and sustainable digital development across SIDS while enhancing their collective voice in global Internet governance.
