CTU’s 51st Executive Council (EC51), General Conference of Ministers Meeting and ICT Week to be held in St Kitts and Nevis, 30th September to 5th October 2024

Basseterre, St Kitts, 22nd July 2024 – The Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU) in collaboration with the Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology (ICT), is delighted to announce the hosting of the CTU ICT Week 2024 – St. Kitts and Nevis, set to take place in the unforgettable paradise twin-island Federation of St Kitts and Nevis from 30th September to 5th October 2024. This year’s conference under the theme, “Bridging Technologies for a Sustainable and Inclusive Future,” promises to be a pivotal event for the region’s technological advancement.

The conference will feature a distinguished lineup of captivating keynote speakers and panelists, including the esteemed Prime Minister of Grenada and Chair of CARICOM, the Hon. Dickon Mitchell, The Hon. Konris Maynard, Minister of ICT for St. Kitts & Nevis, Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Mrs. Doreen Bogdan-Martin, Secretary-General of the Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU), Mr. Rodney Taylor.

“The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis has been focused on using ICT to drive economic growth, improve public services and enhance the overall quality of life for its citizens. St. Kitts and Nevis, the Honourable Konris Maynard.

“We are honoured to host the CTU ICT Week 2024 in St. Kitts and Nevis, a nation that embodies the spirit of leading innovative firsts in pioneering movements. This gathering represents a significant milestone in our collective journey towards advancing ICT development and fostering a collaborative environment for technological progress in the Caribbean,” stated Secretary-General Rodney Taylor.

According to Permanent Secretary Mrs. Cheryleann Pemberton, “CTU ICT Week 2024 – St. Kitts and Nevis aims to bring together policymakers, government officials, industry leaders, technology experts, and other stakeholders across the Caribbean and beyond, who will explore digital transformation.

The Permanent Secretary further stated that “The ICT week of activities promises to be an extraordinary gathering, showcasing the latest advancements, and opportunities in the field of ICT.  This conference will include platforms for knowledge sharing in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and will also feature a hackathon where the youth of our nation will be involved in software development over a two-day period.”

Certain CTU ICT Week 2024 events, such as the CTU Statutory Meeting, the Regulators Forum are closed, while other events are open to all stakeholders interested in the future of telecommunications and technology in the Caribbean. The event will provide a forum to embrace cutting-edge technology and strategies that can enhance connectivity, drive economic resilience and foster regional social inclusion.
