HUAWEI, DIAMOND SPONSOR OF CTU’S 30TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS

Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago (17th April 2019) – The Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU) is pleased to announce that one of the leading global providers of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices, Huawei, is the diamond sponsor for the CTU’s 30th Anniversary Celebration.

Under the auspices of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago, the CTU will be celebrating the milestones of its 30th Anniversary and the 15th Anniversary of the Caribbean Internet Governance Forum in Port of Spain, with a week of ICT-related activities, including a Prime Ministerial Summit and a Ministerial Strategic ICT Seminar, from April 29th to May 3rd 2019, at the Hyatt Regency, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. 

One of the week’s feature events is Caribbean FutureScape. The CTU and its technology partners will be creating this technology immersion experience that demonstrates the speed, efficiency, transparency, resilience, facility and simplicity of life in a fully integrated digital Caribbean. The Caribbean FutureScape will take place on 30th April and 1st May, 2019.

Ms. Bernadette Lewis, Secretary General of the CTU has welcomed Huawei’s involvement at the highest level of sponsorship, noting the critical need for technology partners to work collaboratively to advance digital transformation in the region. “We cannot achieve digital transformation if we continue to work in silos. For this reason, the CTU is honoured to welcome Huawei as our Diamond sponsor, a technology partner with whom we have worked in the past,” said Ms. Lewis.

Speaking on behalf of Huawei, Mr. Charles Che, Huawei’s Head of Central American & Caribbean Region Government and Enterprise Business said that Huawei was pleased and honoured to be part of the Caribbean FutureScape event with the CTU, as it is committed to bringing digital to every person, home and organisation for a fully connected, intelligent world. 

Mr. Che also emphasised the company’s focus on the value of collaboration for success, as Huawei actively participates and contributes to a wide range of standards organisations, industry alliances and open source communities to drive advancements in technology and grow the ICT industry as a whole.

The newest Huawei smartphone devices would also be on display.
