The World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC) is a standing conference of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) that is held roughly every four years to determine the ITU’s global telecommunications/ICT development priorities and agenda for the subsequent four-year period. The WTDC is of particular importance to developing countries since its subject matter and outcomes are directly relevant to the needs of developing countries and the conference provides an opportunity for special focus and resources to be applied to identifying and satisfying these needs. The conference will take place in Baku, Azerbaijan from 17th to 28th November 2025.
Objectives of the 3rd Caribbean Preparatory Meeting for WTDC-25:
In an effort to ensure sufficiently influential Caribbean support for the Inter-American Proposals (IAPs) to WTDC-25 and to optimise coordination of CTU membership resources at and supporting the WTDC proceedings, the CTU is convening, virtually on 10th November 2025, a Final Caribbean Preparatory Meeting for WTDC-25 in order to:
- Enable common briefing of CTU Member States and relevant stakeholders on all matters related to WTDC-25
- Confirm CTU members’ participation and plan activities in order to facilitate substantial and effective Caribbean contribution, participation and influence at WTDC-25
- Optimise advocacy for common Caribbean priorities and/or initiatives to be tabled at WTDC-25, and particularly for those IAPs initiated by CTU Member States (IAPs 4 and 14 as well as IAP 1 which incorporates Caribbean telecommunication/ICT development priorities).
Target Audience:
CTU Member State Ministers, Ministers, Permanent Secretaries and Technical Officers, particularly persons attending or supporting delegations at WTDC-25.
