Join us as we host the CTU’s first Open Forum at the UN IGF Kyoto 2023 themed, From IGF to GDC – A New Era of Global Digital Governance: A SIDS Perspective. For the past 19 years, the CTU has been dedicated to tackling significant ICT challenges, pioneering the first Internet Governance Forum(IGF) on a global scale, leading the Caribbean Internet Governance Forum(CIGF). This year the CTU contributed to the Global Digital Compact (GDC) which is expected to “outline shared principles for an open, free and secure digital future for all.”
The forum’s agenda is framed within the context of the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals 8, 9 and 10, with the aim to support developing countries craft concrete proposals and recommendations for the GDC. As we prepare for the 2024 UN Future of the World Summit, our goal is to ensure that the GDC addresses the shortcomings of the UN IGF process, particularly as it pertains to Developing Countries (DCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
Your voice matters. We know that your insights will be invaluable and that your presence will be a catalyst for change. Together, we will identify opportunities and mechanisms to overcome these interconnected challenges faced by the Caribbean region and other SIDS.
