The Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU) extends heartfelt congratulations to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) on the momentous occasion of its 160th Anniversary.
Since it was established in 1865, the ITU has stood at the forefront of global technological advancement, tirelessly fostering international collaboration and standard-setting in telecommunications and ICTs. Its visionary leadership has been instrumental in shaping the global digital landscape, ensuring that connectivity and innovation serve as inclusive enablers of socio-economic development for all nations.
The Caribbean region has benefited significantly from its long-standing partnership with the ITU. Through technical assistance, policy guidance and capacity-building initiatives, the ITU has played a pivotal role in supporting Caribbean nations to modernise their telecommunications infrastructure; develop forward-looking regulatory frameworks; and bridge the digital divide. The ITU’s enduring commitment to universal connectivity, digital inclusion and sustainable development is deeply aligned with the CTU’s mission of accelerating digital transformation across the Caribbean.
As the ITU celebrates this historic milestone, the CTU reaffirms its support for the ITU’s mandate and vision. The CTU, its Member States, and other members and stakeholders look forward to continued collaboration as we collectively advance a resilient, secure and inclusive global digital ecosystem.
