The Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU) extends its deepest condolences to the local Government and people of French Guiana, and the family and loved ones of President Gabriel Serville, President of the Assembly of French Guiana, on his passing.
President Serville’s leadership strengthened French Guiana’s engagement with the Caribbean and advanced regional cooperation. In May 2026, he oversaw French Guiana’s accession to the CTU as an Associate Member at a signing ceremony hosted in Trinidad and Tobago. In July 2026, he further strengthened these ties by leading French Guiana’s official accession as an Associate Member of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
Under his auspices, French Guiana hosted CTU ICT Week 2026 in September, bringing together regional leaders, policymakers and stakeholders to advance the Caribbean’s digital agenda. The CTU expresses its sincere appreciation for his team’s warm and generous hospitality during the Week.
His leadership and commitment to regional digital transformation contributed significantly to the event’s success and deepened the spirit of partnership between French Guiana and the wider Caribbean.
The CTU honours his service and his contribution to regional integration, cooperation and shared progress. His legacy will endure through the relationships he strengthened and the opportunities he helped create for the people of French Guiana and the Caribbean.
