Caribbean Privacy, Data P📈rotection, and AI governance Expert

Rishi Maharaj

Rishi Maharaj is a Caribbean privacy, data protection, and AI governance expert with a track record spanning government, private sector, and international organizations. He has advised on national legislation for Trinidad and Tobago, including the Electronic Transactions, Data Protection, and Freedom of Information Acts, and has worked with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) on governance initiatives in Trinidad and Tobago. As Founder and Managing Director of Privacy Advisory Services, Rishi serves as External Group Data Protection Officer for a leading insurance and financial services conglomerate in the Caribbean and has led compliance projects for major Caribbean institutions including NCBJ, and the Guardsman Group. A CIPM, CIPP/E, and certified AI Governance Architect, he specializes in GDPR and Caribbean data protection laws, as well as the development of ethical AI governance programmes.

Raquel Gatto

Raquel Gatto is a lawyer and serves as General Counsel at BR Point Information and Coordination Center (NIC.br). She holds a PhD in Law from PUC/SP. She previously served as Senior Public Policy Manager at the Internet Society (ISOC), advisor to the .br Information and Coordination Center (NIC.br), and director of the Internet Society in Brazil. She was a member of the Multistakeholder Advisory Committee for the UN Internet Governance Forum.
