52nd Executive Council Meeting (EC52)

March 20, 2025
Venue:

The 52nd Executive Council Meeting is one of the Caribbean Telecommunications Union’s (CTU) closed statutory meetings, convened for members of the Executive Council (EC), which includes Permanent Secretaries, Technical Officers and Advisors to Ministers responsible for ICT within CTU Member States. The EC, which reports to and makes recommendations to the CTU General Conference of Ministers, serves as a critical forum for guidance to be provided on strategic decision-making, policy and administrative direction and oversight of the CTU Secretariat’s work programme.

During the session, Executive Council members deliberate on key ICT-related issues impacting the region, review the progress of ongoing projects and initiatives and provide guidance on future priorities to ensure alignment with the CTU’s mandate and the needs of its Member States.

Discussions and recommendations arising therefrom that are made during Executive Council Meetings are taken to the General Conference of Ministers for that body’s approval and thus serve to directly influence the policies and strategic direction of the CTU, ensuring that the organisation continues to effectively advocate for and implement ICT-led development initiatives across the region.

The Executive Council also provides a platform for representatives of Non-State Members that wish to discuss with Council, pertinent matters affecting their organisation that they would like to bring to Council’s attention.

Discussions will include, among others:

  • CTU Strategic Plan 2025-2028
  • 2025 Operational Work Plan, Budget 2025 & Calendar of Events
  • Applications of New Members
  • Audited Financial report for the year ended 31st December 2024 & other related financial reports
  • Report on ITU Council Meetings and the World Telecommunication ICT Policy Forum
  • Preparation for ITU’s World Telecommunication Development Conference 2025 (WTDC-25)
  • Updates from the private sector on regulatory developments in ECTEL Member States and developments in the satellite industry
